3rd January 2017 Revised official Petanque Rules
The official body of world petanque, the FJPJP has issued a revised set of rules which apply with immediate effect. A copy of the English version of the new rules is below with the significant alterations shown in BLUE. One of the most most significant changes is that the team throwing the coche has only ONE opportunity to throw a legal coche. If this is a illegal throw then the opposition will PLACE the coche in any legal position of their choice. Another is clarification about filling in holes - a team about to throw may fill in any one hole but any other alteration to the piste may not be made, with particular reference to clearing or sweeping the area in front of a boule which is about to be shot. There are other changes and references to official umpires and organising committees and even TV cameras which will probably not be relevant to our league.
Alan Cregeen was elected to the committee as Secretary and Paul Dennis was elected as a committee member
The Committee issued clarifications as to some rules relating to; Boundaries and Strings; Postponements; Abandoned Matches. These are published below and will be part of a revised playing guide which will be issued before the start of the 2017 season.
