League Doubles - 1st June - Brown Jug
On a lovely Sunday for playing petanque a good entry of 14 teams turned up at the Brown Jug and in addition to the host club there were players from Northwood Magpies, Horse and Groom and Yellabacks.
The league phase was in two leagues of five and one of four and after the quarter-finals the semi-finalists were
Peter and John Hatton (Horse and Groom A) v David Sheppard and Ryan Miles (Northwood Magpies)
Barrie Smith and David Blakeley (Brown Jug B) v Barbara Moyse and Bob Easter (Northwood Magpies)
The final was a surprisingly one-sided affair ending in a 13-4 win for David Sheppard and Ryan Miles over Barrie Smith and David Blakeley.
A plate competition was also held ending in a victory for the Brown Jug C combination of Shannon Cook and Callum Putney
Prizes were handed out by Jenny Skudder, and thanks to Max Boyce for organising the event in his usual efficient style and to Roy Small for performing his customary gastronomic skills on the barbecue.
